About Us: The Lake Argyle Swim Inc. was formed in January 2011 to create stability for the organisation of the Lake Argyle Swim into the future.
Mission: The mission of the Lake Argyle Swim Inc. is to create a self-sustaining and financially viable public event which promotes a healthy lifestyle through Swimming and brings further visitors to the East Kimberley region. Historical Swimmer Participation: 2006: 6 Swimmers from Balmoral to raise money for RFDS; A Link to How it all began with the Balmoral swimmers: The Lake Argyle Marathon Swim 2007: 57 Swimmers, organised by Jim Hughes and the KCCI as a part of the Ord Valley; 2008: Rescheduled to September – Event cancelled; 2009: 22 Swimmers, Rescheduled for May/June. Official Event cancelled but social swim was organised instead (2 individuals and 5 teams); 2010: 27 Swimmers, organised by SWEK (3 solo swimmers, 4 duos and 4 quad teams); 2011: 63 Swimmers, organised by the newly formed Lake Argyle Swim Inc. 2012: 117 Swimmers, organised by the Lake Argyle Swim Inc.; 2013: 140 Swimmers, the Lake Argyle Swim Inc. and Event Manager: Glenn Taylor. 2014: 183 Swimmers, "sold-out"in 6 hours and winner of WA Event of the Year. 2015: 200 Swimmers, event "sold-out" in a record 3 hours. 2016: 249 Swimmers in 99 Teams, event "sells-out" in a record 2 hours. 2017: 260 Swimmers in 113 Teams, 600 Adults at Gala Dinner. Sell-out. 2018: 314 Swimmers in 108 Teams, 650 Adults at Gala Dinner. Sell-out. 2019: 337 Swimmers, 700 Adult Gala Dinner. Sell-out. 2021: 350 Swimmers, 570 participants, 709 Adult Gala Dinner. Sell-Out. 2022: 576 participants, 720 Gala Dinner, Sell-out. 2023: 362 swimmers, 720 Gala Dinner, Sell-out. 2024: 370 swimmers, 700 Gala Dinner, Sell-out. Lake Argyle Swim announced winner of EVENT OF THE YEAR in the WA Sport and Recreation Industry Awards. Selected from more than 80 applications, the nominations showcased best practice and an exciting, diverse range of projects across WA’s thriving sport and recreation sector. It is an amazing honour for the First National Lake Argyle Swim was selected as the best event of the year form an incredible field of events. Thankyou to everyone involved. This is a fantastic boost to the region and our tourism sector. It is awesome that local athletes can be assured they have access to an event of world class quality on their door step.
